6 Popular Families In The Nollywood Industry (PHOTOS)

The Nigerian Movie Industry is one of the biggest movie industries in Africa, and it is filled with talented and skilled actors.

Some of our Nollywood veterans have laid a path which their children are following today, as they have family members who have joined their line of business.

So in this article, we would be taking a look at 6 popular families in the Nollywood industry.

1. The Rays

If you are familiar with Yoruba movies, you will recognize this family because names like Murphy Ray Lasun Ray, Muka Ray, and Mama Ray, are not too difficult to come by.

Eyinwunmi Ray, their late father, was a pioneer in the Yoruba Nollywood industry before his children took over following his death. Today most of his kids (Murphy Ray Lasun Ray, Muka Ray) are doing extremely well for themselves in the industry.

2. The Afolayans

The history of the Afolayans in the Yoruba Nollywood industry began during the lifetime of their late father, Adeyemi Afolayan (Ade Love). 

The most well-known director raised a lot of hurdles. Before his death, the Yoruba Nollywood legend introduced some of his children and family members to his field of work, and his good intentions continue to benefit them today, as almost all of Ade Love's children are actors.

His first son, Kunle Afolayan, rose to fame after portraying Arese Jabata in Mainframe Production's Saworo Ide. Kunle is now one of Nigeria's most successful actors. Kunle, Aremu, Gabriel, Moji, and Toyin Afolayan a.k.a Lola Idije, their aunt are some of the members who are doing exceptionally well in the Nigerian movie industry generally.

3. The Edochies

Since Nollywood legend, Pete Edochie, entered the Nigerian movie industry about three decades ago, the Edochies has become one of the most popular families in the country. 

Pete's children, Linc and Yul Edochie, have taken over the path of his father's footsteps.

4. The Kosokos

Jide Kosoko has been a leading figure in the film business since becoming one of the most sought-after Yoruba actors in the early 1990s.

Jide's daughters Sola Kosoko, Bidemi Kosoko, and his late wife, Henrietta Kosoko, are some of his family members that have demonstrated their value in the movie industry.

5. The Adebayos

Adebayo Aremu Salami, better known by his stage name Oga Bello, is another Yoruba veteran actor with most of his children following his footsteps in the Nollywood industry.

Omolara Adebayo, Femi Adebayo, Sodiq Adebayo, Kemi Adebayo, and Risikat Ejide, the CEO of Ejide Movie Production, are some of the popular names of his children who have built a solid ground for themselves In the industry.

6. The Omobolanles

Sunday Omobolanle, aka Papi Luwe, and his wife, Peju Omobolanle, along with their son Sunkanmi Omobolanle, is another top Nollywood prominent family. 

Their father, Papi Luwe, is a well-known Yoruba comic actor while his son, Sunkanmi, and his wife, Peju, are also successful in the industry.
