Against expectations that his account would be suspended, Instagram has reportedly affirmed that Hushpuppi’s account will continue to be active.

The Nigerian is accused of fraud and is currently in detention. He pleaded guilty to the allegations as revealed in court documents from April 2021. The 37-year-old also pleaded guilty to online fraud of more $24 million.

Recall that Hushpuppi who lived a luxury life in Dubai was known for sharing photos of extravagant shopping trips, luxury cars, clothes, and watches on his Instagram account.
Although Hushpuppi, with 2.5 million followers has not posted any pictures or videos since June 2020, his account has remained active.
Responding to an inquiry by Dubai-based The National, Instagram said Hushpuppi is free to continue using his social media account as he did not violate the social media platform’s laws.
According to the social media giant, there is a well-established process with law enforcement and a policy on “inmate takedown requests” in place for prisoners active on social media.
