A young man idenfied as Wisekid has been exposed for making over 30 Million naira monthly on songs and albums of wizkid a popular Nigerian musician.
The young man started by cloning the name of Wizkid. knowing that wizkid already exists he opened account with Wisekid. The official Tweeter handle of wizkid is @wizkidayo while the criminal's own is @Wisekidaya. if you look at the real names you know that the criminal knows what he doing.
The young man opened account on Apple music, Amazon, Shopify, and many online music streaming platforms. What he does is to upload Wizkid's Songs as if they were his songs. He deceives the algorithm by renaming the songs.
He upload the wizkid made in Lagos and renamed it to "Lasgidi made" the song's content are the same. He has millions of views and buyers on amazon and apple music.
According to section 15 of copyright act, Nigerian Governments and the world frown at stealing someone's intellectual property without full authorization from the owner.
Meanwhile, wizkid fans discovered it and has been shaming the guy on social media and calling attention of wizkid to it. Wizkid has not made any statement on this probably because he hasn't seen it.
