Forbes Releases List of Hollywood's Highest-Paid Actresses of 2020

The outlet published their annual report on Friday Oct 2, disclosing the highest earners from June 2019 to June 2020. In those 12 months, there have been astounding changes in the list, with the income of the 10 actresses combined down by nearly 20 percent, according to Forbes. This decline has been attributed to the ongoing pandemic which has brought the TV and movie industry to a near halt.

 10. Viola Davis

Making her first appearance in the list, the actress takes the No. 10 spot. Her starring role as Annalise Keating in 'How To Get Away With Murder' and another role in Netflix adaptation of August Wilson play Ma Rainey’s 'Black Bottom', have earned her a cool $15.5 million

9. Elisabeth Moss

She makes a cool $1 million per episode for her role in 'The Handmaid’s Tale'. Her starring role in 'The Invisible Man' brought in an undisclosed sum but is believed to a huge chunk of the $16 million she made in 2020.

8. Ellen Pompeo

With a pay of about $550,000 per episode for her role in the hit series 'Grey’s Anatomy', she slides into No. 8 on the list. The show is syndicated so she makes an additional $6million a year.

7. Nicole Kidman

The actress made $22 million this year thanks to her part in 'The Prom'. She negotiated a $1 million paycheck for each episode in HBO’s 'Undoing'.

 

6. Emily Blunt

With a cool $22.5 million earned in 2020, she makes it to No. 6 on the list. She is expected to smile to the bank again in 2021 for her role in Disney’s 'Jungle Cruise'.

5. Meryl Streep

Her roles in Ryan Murphy’s 'The Prom' and Christmas hit 'Little Women' have made huge input to her $24 million earnings in 2020. She also got a $5 million paycheck for part in HBO Max comedy 'Let Them All Talk'.

4. Melissa McCarthy

She’s the host of NBC’s 'Little Big Shots' meaning she has a steady income. In addition to her paycheck from starring in two films, 'Thunderforce' and 'Superintelligence', both directed by her husband, She earned a mouth watering $25 million in 2020.

 

3. Gal Gadot

A huge chunk of the 31.5 million she made in 2020 comes from her role in Netflix’s 'Red Notice'. The streaming company paid her a staggering $20 million. She also made a decent sum from sponsorships and other deals in 2020.

2. Angelina Jolie

The star made $35.5 million in 2020 thanks to her roles in box office hits like 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil' and Alice In Wonderland inspired project 'Come Away'. But her highest pay came from signing on to Marvel’s 'The Eternals'. 

1. Sofia Vergara 

The actress comes in at No. 1 with a hefty sum of $43 million in 2020. Her role as judge on 'America’s Got Talent' makes up a large chunk of that sum. Forbes also reports that endorsements and her jean collection with Walmart rounds up the total sum.
