Not All Heroes Wear Capes!
Former South African President Nelson Mandela was born on 18 July 1918 in a village named Mvezo in Umtata, which was at that time part of South Africa's Cape Province. Nelson Mandela was given the forename Rolihlahla, a Xhosa term which means "troublemaker", few years later he became popularly known by his nickname, Madiba.
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader and philanthropist who was democratically elected as President of South Africa from in 1994 which he served to 1999. Madiba was the country's first black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election.
During his days, Nelson Mandela was Known and loved around the world for his commitment to peace, negotiation and reconciliation, Nelson Mandela was the first ever South Africa's democratically elected president (1994-1999). Mandela was an anti-apartheid revolutionary and political leader, as well as a philanthropist with an undying love for children until his passing on 5th of December, 2013.
The American actor, musician and father Willard Carroll Smith, popularly known as Will Smith took to his social media today to wish Nelson Mandela saying he was really grateful to have met him and he really learnt a lot from him.
"When I first met Nelson Mandela I burst into tears. He is one of the greatest heroes of my life"
"I was so inspired! I told him I wanted to quit my job. I wanted to follow him and go out into the streets. I wanted to fight!"
"He smiled and said No, you have to understand the power of what it is that you do. You must understand the hope that is cultivated by the art that you create. He told me not to force it. And that when it was time, the call will speak to me."
Will Smith then concluded with these words;
"As I look at our World today, I am deeply impelled to Action. The 'call' has spoken to me and I will humbly, gratefully and aggressively respond.
"Happy Bday, Madiba!"
The truth is that not all heroes wear cape and Nelson Mandela was indeed a Hero!
One thing I have noticed about Nelson Mandela is that he is always smiling. He has that kind of happiness that makes you feel you are unstoppable and free which even money cannot buy.
