This very day happens to be the day we would have the privilege to celebrate another music icon. He is celebrating his 30th birthday today. He is arguably the biggest artiste in the history of Nigerian music and Africa at large. I'm a fan and I also Celebrate our boss, no matter what
Wizkid, definitely is one of the greatest, Wizkid has built himself a formidable name in the history of Nigerian entertainmement with his unique Afrobeat style and outstanding personality. He has won so many recognitions and award both Internationally and locally.
Wizkid is very hard-working and this has paved way for him. You could imagine a small boy then, starting his career at age 10 before joining Banky W's side in 2009. He's an artiste who carved his niche innocently into the music industry more than 11 years ago via the famous EME Music label.
He has proven to music fans what “entertainment” is all about and so much created a class for himself that only he could learn from. It is of no doubt a role model to many youth. Some of the awards he won include:
First African Artiste to bag seven Billboard Nominations
Youngest African Artiste to get a Grammy nomination
Wizkid Is The First African Pop Star To Perform/Sell Out Royal Albert Hall In London
Nigerian Artiste with the most award nominations in Nigeria
First Nigerian to win three Billboard Music Awards
Wizkid Is The First Afro-Pop Artiste To Appear In The Guinness World Records
He is sure a multi award winning celebrity. As of 2019, Wizkid has received a total of 63 awards from 219 nominations.
Despite all this, Wizkid is seen as a public figure who is worthy of emulation, except for his fatherly qualities. The Nigerian superstar has not been able to manage his home well, especially his innocent kids.
Wizkid may have conquered the music world but seems to have come short in managing his fatherhood calling. The singer, who has three baby mamas has always been called out by one of his for not being a good father to her son. Sola Ogudu, who is the first woman to have had a child for the Star takes no time in tweeting on her account to accuse the singer of not being a good father to their son, Boluwatife. According to Sola, she has been both father and mother to their son.
His second baby mama, Binta Diallo who has a two-year old kid for the singer shaded him for not living up to his responsibilities as a caring father. Her words, “Take care of your kid before impressing the street”. She claims Wizkid only supported her with just 13 thousand dollars over a period of two years.
Some might say he cares for his third baby mama and her kid, Zion. But it is uncalled for as a role model to many looking up to him, how does he explain his lack of fatherly role over his two kids and manage to favour one.
What does he preaches? Favouritism or Discrimination?
Nevertheless, Wizkid should be commended for exporting Afrobeat to the oversea and bringing the World to our feet here. He's indeed a great legend and must be celebrated.
Happy birthday, Wizkidayo! We love you
