Mr Rikki Stein, Ex-Manager of the late Afro-beat king, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, on Tuesday said he was attracted to the musician because of his resolve to fight for the rights of the common man.

Stein, who worked with Fela for 15 years, made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview in Lagos.

Stein, aged 79, flew in from London to celebrate the life and times of Anikulapo-Kuti at the ongoing Felabration.

2023 Presidency: North, East Youths mobilse for Yahaya Bello

North East Youth Coalition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked Nigerians to support the 2023 presidential ambition of the governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

The group believes that the governor has all it takes to run Nigeria effectively and efficiently, and stressed that Alhaji Bello has proved himself to be an astute administrator with a knack for sustainable development.

The group’s zonal coordinator, Hajiya Aishatu Saidu, who disclosed this after the inauguration of state coordinators and zonal executive members of the group, expressed their commitment to the political vision of Yahaya Bello for Nigeria from 2023.

Again, Reps lament leaking roof, dysfunctional cooling system

Members of the House of Representatives have again expressed grave concerns over the bad state of facilities at the green chamber of the National Assembly, particularly the leaking roof and non-functional air-conditioners.

The lawmakers frowned against the situation during debate on a point of order raised by Hon. Haruna Dederi (APC, Kano) during plenary on Tuesday.

In his lead debate and while addressing Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, Hon. Dederi said: “Sir, Order 7 of the Rules of this House has given you powers to absolutely control whatever goes on here to preserve decorum. To preserve the atmosphere within which we should operate.

Police rescue mother, daughter from Kidnapppers den

The police in Adamawa have rescued a woman and her daughter, who were reportedly abducted by bandits who raided a police station at Ngurore, Yola South Local government area of Adamawa.

The Punch had reported the abduction of the woman and her daughter, whose home is near the Ngurore police station, by their abductors who also attacked the police station.

The yet to be identified gunmen after a gun duel with the police took abducted Hauwa and her daughter from their house.

EFCC arraigns two for impersonating Anthony Joshua

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Benin Zonal Command, has on Monday arraigned Ukhuriegbe Glory Irekpitan and Onyekwa Joshua Chinedum in court for allegedly impersonating British-Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua.

The duo was arraigned before Justice S. M. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court sitting in Benin, Edo State on two count charge each of impersonation.

The defendants are alleged to have defrauded two ladies of the sums of £10,000 and £5,491,23 in London.
