12 Prominent Nigerians who died in the month of June, 2020

The death of these Nigerian prominent personalities were quite painful and unexpeccted.

The month came with unpleasant surprises for the deceased family

These prominent men may have departed but the legacies they left will still live on.

1. Music legend, Majek Fashek

Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek or "Rain Maker" born in March 1963 was a Nigerian singer-songwriter and guitarist.

His manager announced his passing away. He died on June 1st in New York hospital

He was best known in his home country for "Send Down the Rain" and a list of other songs

He toured with so many international artists like Beyonce, snoop dog, Tracy Chapman, Jimmy Cliff and Michael Jackson

His legacies are still celebrated across the boundaries of nigeria and the world at large

2. Former Ondo Gov, Bamidele Olumilua

Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua, the former governor of Ondo State,died in the month of June, 2020 at the age of 80. It was received that he died few weeks after he turned 80years old

He was elected under the SDP party until General Sani Abacha truncated civilian administration and restored a military regime.

3. Alhaji Abubakar Tsav

Alhaji Tsav Abubakar was the former commissioner of police in Lagos stat who also died in the month of June

he died at the Makurdi Federal medical center and was buried in Markudi.

4. Ibidun Ighodalo

The demise of the beauty queen Ibidun Ighodalo aka nee Ajayi was one that shocked so many Nigerians.

She was until her death the founder /CEO of Elizabeth P, one of Nigeria's top event planning company and also a wife of Senior pastor of Trinity House church. she also had a foundation for the creating of awareness among couples with infertility issues.

5. Lagos Senator Bayo Osinowo

Sikiru Adebayo Osinowo popularly known as Pepperito was a member of the Lagos House of Assembly for four consecutive terms from 2003 to 2019.

His death also occurred in the month of June.

6. Emeritus Prof Akinkugbe


The late Akinkugbe was a foremost Nigerian professor of Medicine at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Emeritus Professor Oladipo Akinkugbe also died in the month of June, 2020. As at his death, he was 86.

7. American radio presenter Dan Foster dies

Popular Nigerian-American broadcaster, Daniel Foster popularly known as Dan Foster died in the month of June.


The late Foster, real name Daniel Foster, is a Nigerian-based American radio personality, formerly an Idol series judge who held a similar position with the Got Talent franchise.


8. Abiola Ajimobi

The former governor of Oyo state, Senator Ajimobi abiola died in the month of June.

He became the first Oyo state governor who served for two terms 2011-2019

9. Nollywood veteran Ogun Majek

Gbolagade Akinpelu, a popular Yoruba actor known as Ogun Majek also died in the month of June.

It was gathered that he died in his home town.

He had battled with a prolonged disease which eventually took his life.


10. Kogi State Chief Judge (CJ), Justice Nasir Ajanah

The late chief Justice of Kogi State, Justice Nasir Ajanah, also died in the month of June.

He died at the age of 64 while in an isolation centre where he was been treated of the current Covid-19 pandemic.

11. Chief Bode Akindele

He was a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist until his death. The president of the country Muhammadu Buhari had described his death an irreplaceable loss to the country. His death occured on the 29th of June, 2020
