The trending news among music lovers is the purported exchange of blows between two African contemporary musical giants, Burna Boy, and Davido.
Delving into the nitty - gritty of the fight is irrelevant here because ardent followers of the Nigerian music industry know the level of hate prevalent.
It does not require special brilliance to decipher the origin of this hate - it is mainly a superiority tussle!
Instead of uniting to inspire the Nigerian youths with the powerful instrument of music, top players in the Nigerian musical industry are engaged in an unholy competition among each other.
Perhaps it will help if Burna Boy and Davido can cast their minds back to the disastrous consequence of the prolonged rift between American mega star rappers and hip hop artistes, 2pac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. known as Biggie.
2Pac ended up being murdered in a shoot out.
To this day, the world has not been unable to get over 2Pac's murder. Sad still 2Pac's murderer and the exact reason for his murder are unknown.
However unconfirmed rumour has it that the the shooting which led to the death of 2Pac was carried out by a gang known as the South side Crips to avenge the beating of a member of the gang 2Pac earlier.
The following year American rapper Christopher Wallace popularly called The Notorious B.I.G. or Biggie was shot and killed in a similar way 2Pac was shot and unconfirmed rumour had it that his murder was a revenge for 2Pac's.
The only reason the murder of Notorious B.I.G was rumoured to be a revenge for 2Pac's death was because both rappers/hip hop stars were arch enemies while alive.
That goes to show the horror that could result from rivalry among artistes.
Burna Boy and Davido should learn a lesson from this and immediately allow maturity rule.
Rivalry among artistes is usually a time bomb waiting to explode!
