Some people have a hidden desire to be something totally different from what they currently are. Some people want to change their gender, some people want to live like a particular animal while some people just want to live like a cartoon character.
This is evident in the case of Christian Riel, who fell in love with the famous cartoon character, Ariel so much that he wanted to be one of the mermaids of the show. The would have been seen as impossible to some people but Christian was determined.
