Popular Nollywood actor by the name Chiwetalu Agu was arrested yesterday at Onitsha in Anambra state, this was after he was seen wearing an outfit which looked similar to the Biafran flag. According to reports by the army, he was soliciting for support from people around him for the Biafran movement. When the actor was asked, he said that he was only sharing bread to people while doing his charity work.
The actor spent a night in the custody of the Nigerian army but has been granted freedom as at today. Below are two things you should note as he regained his freedom today:
The Intervention Of The Actors Guild Of Nigeria (AGN)
Actors Guild Of Nigeria is a body uniting all key players in the movie industry. The union had a negotiation with the army which subsequently led to Chiwetalu Agu's release. This was announced by another popular actor Emeka Ike on his personal Instagram page. Actress Chizzy Alichi went on to confirm the news as she assured everyone that the actor is hale and hearty.
The Reactions On Social Media
Before his release, many top celebrities like Walter Anga, Destiny Etiko, Queeneth Hilbert, and so many others condemned his arrest and subsequently asked for his release.
Aside from these celebrities, many other Nigerians joined voices on social media to ask for his release.
