Falz, 2 Other Nigerian Celebrities That Rose To Unimaginable Fame Through Social Media

The Nigerian entertainment industry is changing rapidly with celebrities diversifying because of the extreme usage of social media, thanks to the power of technology with the advent introduction of smartphones. With social media today, everyone is a celebrity. Recently, many stars in Nigeria today rose to fame with their creative content on different social media platforms. Most of these social media content creators rose from being social media comedians or singer to internationally celebrated content creators. Without no doubt, people gain the fastest means to fame with the emergence of the stable digitally connected world.

Many celebrities around the world rose to unimaginable fame amazingly by posting videos, pictures of themselves, and their unique skills to create awareness on social media platforms. One of these international celebrities that rose to fame through social media is Justin Bieber. His story proves that anyone can become renowned in the new order of things. Born Kunle Idowu, famously known as Frank Donga is a Nigerian comedian and actor. Frank Donga is undoubtedly one of the celebrities that established themselves with the new order of social media, breaking hurdles with his creative genre that seems not to be the old and normal way of comedy.

Frank Donga rose to fame in 2013 when he broke the internet through the web series titled The Interview. The interview is a comic web series on Ndani Tv about an ordinary job seeker.

He previously work as a photographer, journalist, and filmmaker before his character ‘Frank Donga’ in the Ndani Tv Web series. In 2015, He was nominated for the Best Actor in a Comedy in the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award (AMVCA).

He ushered his way into the Nigerian movie industry in 2016. He played a role of a driver called Harrison in the movie ‘The Wedding Party.

FALZ THE BAHD GUY

Falz the bahd guy is a multi-talented and multi-faceted Nigerian idol.

Born on October 27, 1990, Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz, is a Nigerian actor, songwriter, and rapper. He is the son of renowned Nigerian Lawyer, Femi Falana. He started his music career in 2009, and he has ever since become vast and growing in the Nigerian entertainment industry. In 2012, He was called to bar after graduating from Nigeria Law School, Abuja.

Falz the bahd guy stepped into the spotlight when he showed what he’s made of in the Instagram Ellobae’s challenge which greatly attracted unimaginable likes on social media. There is no doubt that he leverages on the new order of rising to fame through social media though he has been in the industry long before the challenge. Social media contributed to his popularity on no small scale, spreading his name and ability to the world beyond expectation.

Falz released a hit single in 2011 titled “Wahz Up Guy”, he gained grounds in the industry later in the year after he released “Currency” and “High Class”. He is well known for his unique style of rapping and activist behavior.

In 2015, he was nominated in the “Best rap Act of The Year” and “Best Collaboration of the Year”. Also, in 2015, his “Ello Bae” hit single won him a nomination at the headies.

From being a street hawker to a Nigerian music star, Salle rose to fame through social media. 17-year-old Salle, who hails from Owerri in Imo State, earns a living by hawking before the world discovered her angelic voice through a viral freestyle video on social media. She rose to fame in September 2021, when a video of her singing went viral on social media platforms. Days after the breakthrough, she reportedly got calls from Christiane Amanpour and Rihanna. Gaining ground seems easy for her through the new order as her Instagram page (@callmesalle) hits more than 220,000 followers in a week. Her videos have jointly attracted over 1.5million likes on social media platforms.

Within some weeks, she has been able to connect with large followership of admirers and fans on social media.

Many celebrities rose to fame in Nigeria through social media but these three celebrities are exceptional among many. With consistency, irrespective of their background or status, they were able to leverage the power of social media to attain greatness and fame.
