Rachel Bakam, a Kaduna-born actress and TV host, died on Tuesday at the age of 38 after a brief illness.
Rachel the Piper, as she was known, died on Tuesday at a private hospital in Abuja after a brief illness.
The reports of her death have shocked thousands of social media supporters, who have mourned her loss on her Facebook page now.
Rachel Bakam, Dinatu Zamani wrote, "Rest in Peace."
“My dear, I can't comprehend the news of ur transformation, God knows the best, we loved u but God loves u more, RIP my dear friend, until resurrection morning,” Olubunmi Ayeni-Ejike said.
Rachel was not only an actress and TV host before her death, but she was also an anti-human trafficking ambassador. She was the Founder and President of the Nigerian Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation, as well as the CEO and Managing Director of Rayzeds Media Ltd. (NWWF). In addition to acting, the actress worked as a publicity consultant for African Fashion Reception in Paris.
Rachel completed her secondary education at Kaduna Capital School before enrolling at Ahmadu Bello University to study English and Performing Arts. She went on to the New York Film Academy to study Digital Filmmaking.
“So sad to hear about my sister's transformation to glory on social media, it came as a rude shock to me,” Daniel Paul said.
