5 African Musicians Who Have Won The Prestigious Grammy Award

The Grammy is the biggest award globally that people recognized and most musicians look up to. Just like football, few players are selected based on their exploit in the field and will be given award as the best player, so all in music, the Grammy is held to recognize achievement in music.

However, this article focus on African musicians not group band music that have the prestigious Grammy Award organized by American Recording Academy.

Ali Farka Toure

Ali Farka Toure was a musician from Mali, he has 3 Grammy Award to his name. He won the award in 1995, 2006 and 2011. One of his song Berebere was featured as background music of Black Panther. He died on 26 of March 2006 in Bamako, Mali.

Angelique Kidjo

She is a Beninese singer, she won the award 3 times.

Youssou Ndour

Just like Wizkid And Burna Boy, Youssou Ndour won the award once in 2005. He is a Senegalese singer.

He won the award as an artist in Beyonce’s ‘Brown Skin Girl' in the best music video category.

Burna Boy won the award for his work in ‘Twice As Tall' in the best global music album category.

The above list is only African Musicians who trade their music in Africa, not African descent.
