Afrobeat legend and numerous awards winner, Ayo Balogun 'Wizkid' clocks 30 years today, and here are five records he set in his musical journey since he started at the age of 11.


(1) Ayo Balogun 'Wizkid' is the first Nigerian musician to hit a landmark one million followers on a popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter founded by American Jack Dorsey.

(2) Surulere-born Wizkid became the first afrobeats artiste to appear in Guinness World Book of Records in 2018 following his contribution in "one dance" alongside Canadian rapper, Drake.

One dance hit number one in 15 countries across the world including Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Australia, and others.

(3) Wizkid became the youngest African artiste ever to get a Grammy award nomination when he was 26 years with his collaboration with Canadian-American rapper, Drake in One Dance nominated four years ago.


(4)Wizkid popularly known as StarBoy by his fans is the first Nigerian to headline and sold out the Iconic Royal Albert Hall in London, United Kingdom.


(5) The Afrobeat star also became the first African to win the NAACP image award after his collaboration with Beyonce and Blue Ivy in "Brown Skin Girl" won the outstanding Duo, Group Collaboration on the 51st NAACP Award.
