Chiwetalu Agu Reveals Why He Wore the Rising Sun Costumes Says it Was in No Way Related to Biafra.

It is usually said that when the use of a thing is not known then insult is inevitable. This is the case of veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu who was arrested on the streets of Anambra for wearing a regalia interpreted by the Nigerian Army to be a Biafra flag.

The Nigerian Army arrested Agu accusing him of having relationship with the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. However after his release, the actor has revealed what the regalia truly means.

According to Punch News Chiwetalu Agu who spoke with Adelani Adepegba in an interview said that the costume has nothing to do with IPOB or Biafra secession.

"The costume I wore was designed red, black and yellow with a rising sun. My belief is that having come to this world, whatever level you are, you struggle to climb the ladder, you rise and rise like the sun. I was an ordinary actor in 1981 in NTA (Nigeria Television Authority)"

Chiwetalu Agu enlightened the panel of the Nigerian Army set up to investigate his costume that the regalia in symbolised the fact that he has risen from being an ordinary actor with NTA in 1981 to who he is today and has nothing to do with IPOB.
