The recent trend on social media is the invitation sent by the body regulating the use of media medium to pass information across to the citizens, the National Broadcasting Commission, over the inciting and divisive comments made by the Governor of Benue State, Governor Ortom, during a live interview on Channels TV.

According to the report, Governor Ortom said that the way Mr. President was handling the issue of insecurity in the country is watery and that the President's agenda concerning ranching is a way of Fulanizing the country. However, the hosts of the interview, Chamberlain User & Kayode Okikiolu, have been invited by NBC and at the time of this report, they are on their way to Abuja to honor the invitation.

Well, the reason why I think that the National Broadcasting Commission should be commended for inviting the interviewers is that the statements made by the Governor are capable of inciting violence among people of different regions in the country. We all know that no government can provide a perfect solution to the problem of the country he governs, and if we want a lasting change as a nation, both the federal, state and local government must be ready to work together to bring about those changes.

Therefore, the invitation of the interviewers that interviewed the Governor of Benue State is a welcome development by the National Broadcasting Commission towards ensuring a unified Nation.
