Late Fela Anikulapo , was born on 15th October 1938 in the old Abeokuta western region, into the upper middle class family of Ransome-kuti. He is the originator of the popular Afrobeat genre of music.
He is so talented that he could play more than 4 musical instruments in his band. His late Reverend Israel Oludotun Ransome-kuti was a principal and also the first president of the Nigeria Union of Teachers.
His mother Late Chief Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti was an human right activist and also an anti-colonial movement activist, she was most popular as the first woman to drive a car in Nigeria.
The late Fela is a vocalist, performer composer, instrumentalist and a human right activist.
He played a major role in Nigeria musical transition up till date. He is famously called "Baba 70".
