Femi Falana SAN, is a Nigerian lawyer, and human Rights activist. He is the father of falz, a popular Nigerian rapper, singer. He belongs to many professional bodies including Nigerian bar association, west African bar Association, among others.
He is a very prominent and outstanding lawyer, who has over the years fight for the right of citizens, provide voice for the voiceless. He is a man of Integrity and he hates injustice.
He has proved his love for humanity with many of his good deeds, one of which recently is the case of the 22 year old Kano singer Yahaya Sharif Aminu who was sentenced to death by hanging for blasphemy by a sharia court in Kano state.
The singer was alleged to have blasphemed against the prophet Mohammed through his music, he was later charged and sentenced to death by hanging.
Femi Falana had counterd the judgement passed by the court on the singer on basis he says every one has freedom of speech and expression, and that sentencing the singer to death is a violation of his fundamental human rights.
Just recently, Mr femi Falana has petitioned the west African Bar Association (WABA) for review of the judgement passed on the singer and further unconditional release from detention. In the petition, he says;
_I am writing to you on behalf of yahaya sharif- Aminu to consider the request for provisional measures._
Mr Falana is really taking up the fight for the release of the singer from detention. He spends most of his time fighting of the rights of citizens . He should be appreciated and acknowledged.
