3 Remarkable Things To Know About The Legendary Musician, Victor Uwaifo

Victor Uwaifo died at the age of 80 on August 28, 2021, but he will still be remembered for generations to come because of the legacy he has left behind. Victor Uwaifo has been most known as a musician, but he was more than that. He was also a writer, sculptor, and musical instrument inventor who invented his guitar. He was also a University lecturer, music legend, and the first Honorable Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Tourism in Nigeria.

However, here below are 3 remarkable things to know about the legendary musician, Late Victor Uwaifo:

1. Victor Uwaifo owns a museum named Revelation Tourist Palazzo which is located in Benin City, Nigeria. The Museum is filled with sculptors and artistry works and paintings of different great men. In this museum, there are guitar/keyboard combinations invented by him, a hall of fame with paintings, a slave market and a sculptor of a mermaid and his image.

Victor Uwaifo claimed he saw a mermaid when he was playing his music on the beach, hence the reason behind the mermaid sculptor.

2. Victor Uwaifo was the first professional musician in Nigeria to receive an honorary award of MON (Member of the Order of the Niger) from the Nigerian Government. He received the National Honors Merit Award in 1983.

3. Late Victor Uwaifo was also cited in a dictionary. He was cited in the Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (an encyclopedia of music and musicians) in the 1983 edition. The Legendary musician, Victor Uwaifo was documented in the “Who's Who in Nigeria”, “Who's Who in Africa”, “Who's Who in the Commonwealth”, and “Men and Women of Distinction in the Commonwealth” categories of the Grove Dictionary.
