There are two categories of the term Bachelor. A bachelor is a man who is not and has never been married. An eligible bachelor is a young man who is not only unmarried but rich, classy, sexy, and terribly sophisticated. In Nigeria, the term Bachelor is used to denote a struggling young man who is broke, depressed, and seen by people as a failure and an eyesore. In Nigeria, you often see parents advising their sons that the life of a bachelor is what awaits them if they refuse to be serious in life. An eligible bachelor, on the other hand, is the desirable number one! Most mothers would scrape each others eyes out to get their daughters to wed an eligible bachelor!
