Davido, Burna boy and Wizkid are without doubt the best artist in Nigeria and in Africa, this is due to the fact that they are the most respected and their musical awards and achievements they have accomplished.
One thing their fans can agree on is 'they are the best' but what fans can’t agree on is 'who is the best'.
Measuring their musical achievements can’t determine the best among them because fans will still stand with their favorite.
Earlier this year, Wizkid won the headies as best artist of 2020 but according to Davidoy and Burna boy's fans that does not makes him the best.
Burna boy’s album ‘Twice as Tall’ also won the Grammy’s which is an award Nigerian artist were not able to bring home for about a decade now but according to Davido's and Wizkid's fans that doesn’t makes him the best.
Their achievements are similar, is it winning the headies: Davido, Burna boy and Wizkid have won the headies.
What about Grammys? Burna boy alongside Wizkid recently won the Grammys in different categories and there is every tendency Davido will soon bring Grammy award home.
One musical achievement in which Davido has an edge above others is streams on YouTube.
Davido has the highest streams on YouTube before Burna boy in Nigeria.
His song ‘Fall’ has 198 million views on YouTube which is the most viewed song by a Nigerian artist and the fourth most viewed song by an African artist.
The most viewed song by an African artist on YouTube is ‘Magic in the Air’ by Ivorian musical group Magic System ft. Moroccan singer Chawki with 320 million views on YouTube.
Followed by Baby's on Fire with 255 million views on YouTube by South African musical group Die Antwood.
Fall by Davido with 198 million views is the most viewed song by Davido followed by ‘If’ with 125 million views on YouTube.
Burna boy’s song ‘On the low’ with over 191 million views is the second most viewed song by a Nigerian artist on YouTube.
His song ‘Ye’ reached 130 million views and still counting.
Wizkid song Joro reached 105 million views on YouTube, which is his highest so far.
Come Closer by Wizkid ft. Drake reached 101 million views and still counting.
Other Nigerian songs with more than 100 million views on YouTube are;
i. Johnny by Yemi Alade (129 million views).
ii. Mad over You by Run Town (119 million views).
iii. Pana by Tekno (151 million views).
iv. Do like that by Koredo Bello (113 million views).
v. Personally by P-Square (106 million views).
vi. Way Maker by Sinache (170 million views).
Just as Burna boy has a new musical record in Nigeria by winning the Grammy’s, Davido has his own musical record which is yet to be broken, his song ‘Fall’ has the highest views on YouTube.
Apart from that, Davido is the most followed Nigerian and African artist on Instagram and Twitter.
I believe if Africans especially Nigerians work together, they will achieve a lot of things, imaging what Burna boy and Davido can achieve if only they collaborate considering what Wizkid and Burna boy achieved last year by just releasing one song ‘Ginger Me’.
African artist should learn from Western artist, they set aside their beefs / shades and collaborate; this is why they have achieved a lot of things, their songs have broken records like a billion views on YouTube and every Year, getting a Grammy award is nothing for them.
Like this article if you believe Nigerian artist will be the best in the world.
