Earlier, in Nigeria the term disk jockey(dj) was exclusively given to men, but later on women joined the crew, and not just joined, they're doing beautifully well. In no particular order we shall be looking at the five finest female DJs in Nigeria.
1. DJ Switch.
Obianuju Catherine Udeh, popularly and professionally know as dj switch, is a female Nigerian dj, musician and songwriter who gained attention, when she won the first edition of The Glo X factor in 2013, at age 29. She is the last child of eight children, and a geology graduate, of the University of Port Harcourt.
2. DJ Nana.
Nanayat Abedoh, professionally known as dj Nana, a Nigerian Afrobeats disc jokey, born in Kogi State. She came into limelight, when she won the 2011 Airtel/Bacardi competition cool FM dj competition. In July 2018, Nana together with DJ Bonny and DJ Switch were featured on the CNN Programme Inside Africa .
3. Dj cuppy
Florence Otedola, popularly known as dj cuppy, daughter of popular Nigerian Business man, Femi Otedola. She's a Nigerian disk jockey and producer who grew up in Lagos until age 13 when she moved to London. She has received awards and endorsement deals, she has really made her country proud.
4. DJ Lambo.
Olawunmi Okerayi, popularly known as dj Lambo, is the daughter of dj Tony, who undoubtedly passed this gift to his daughter. She is an Alma mater of the University of Abuja, she is into afropop, hip hop and techno. In 2017 lamba was made president of choc boi Nation, a record imprint of chocolate City music, consequently becoming the first few female djs to become an executive of a record label.
5. DJ Frizzie.
Frances Higgwe also known as boss lady dj engr Frizzie is a Nigerian disk jockey and songwriter who studied and has a master's degree in water and environmental management. Her interested genre is electronic, she has released quite a number of enjoyable singles and she's sure to release more.
