Nigerian singers/songwriters of this time and age have taken Afrobeats to the next level of gaining international recognition through the aid of their persistent hustle and hard work. Not minding the situation and structure of the country they aim to push forward.
Divine Ikubor, professionally known as Rema, is not left out in this hustle. As a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper, he has been in the limelight after releasing the song "Dumebi" in the year 2019.
Born in the year 2000, he has been able to achieve a lot after signing a record deal with Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records.
The 23-year-old singer is best known internationally for his 2022 hit single "Calm Down" which brought about the remix with Selena Gomez and peaked its way at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. He also won the Guinness world record for "Calm Down" as the No.1 hit on the official menu chart which is the world's first regional streaming chart in May 2022.
His recent tour to India on the 12th-14th of May 2023, has proven that his music has taken the world by storm as fans sing along while performing on stage.
Rema in an interview once said: "I want to take Afrobeats to the next level!" Why can't we shut down India?
