7 Things To Know About Late Veteran Singer, Sir Victor Uwaifo

Yesterday the internet was thrown into mourning after the news broke that legendary Nigerian Highlife singer and guitarist, Sir Victor Uwaifo died.  

According to reports, a veteran musician died of a chest infection that affected his lungs.

Here are seven things you need to know sir, Victor Uwaifo

1. Sir Victor Uwaifo was born in Benin state in March 1941 and died at 80

2. Uwaifo who hails from Benin City in Edo State is known for his valour in handling musical instruments such as guitar, flute, and saxophone.

3. Uwaifo was a highly educated and intelligent individual,  holding a B. A Honors (first-class valedictorian), Masters degree, and PhD in Architectural Sculpture, all from the  University of Benin, Nigeria.

4. In 1983, Sir Uwaifo was awarded the National Merit Honours of Member of the Order of the Niger(MON) for his contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry.

5. The music legend was the first Honorable Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Tourism in Nigeria.

6. Sir Uwaifo collaborated with Rock over a song titled 'Hallelujah' over a week. 

7. Until death,  Sir Uwaifo was s a Professor of Visual Arts at the University of Benin
