Many of you understand that Wildcards, in a competition, means fake or unreal members of a competition, who have only been chosen by the head of the competition to add a twist to the game.
In the case of Big Brother Naija, Maria (who is already evicted) and Pere have been chosen as Wildcards for the reality TV show, meaning they didn't qualify normally nor were they being voted for by the people, rather, they were picked by the show host/head.

Explanation on Day 64 of the BBNaija's Angel and Pere's game controversies
Recall that, following the eviction of some housemates on Sunday 26th, many fans of the Big Brother Naija show seem to have been caught by surprise, seeing Angel who got fewer votes than a fellow housemate Pere, and remaining in the house to again battle it out for top 5 together.
For the aggrieved fans though, it is quite understandable why they feel how they feel, nevertheless, what should be noted is that Biggie wasn’t wrong to have made such a decision, going by the rules of Wildcards of which Pere is one.
BBNaija's Pere would understand what he bargained for when he agreed to be a "wildcard" at the early stage of the show. He is not a real member of the house like Angel, so Biggie allowing the Wildcard (Pere), who got a higher percentage of votes than a "Normal Card" (Angel), battle it out for the top 5, is not out of place although it may have looked unfair especially to his fans who voted for him.

However, Pere deserves a special award, irrespective of his next fate, for playing the Wildcard personality successfully because it is not that easy to pretend all along as a real housemate without his fellow housemate not discovering, and now, having a chance to battle for top 5.
