The General Overseer of Winners Chapel, Pastor Bishop Oyedepo made a statement that spark up a huge controversy in Nigeria, the well known man of God has made a statement regarding the paying of tithes to churches.
According to Oyedepo: "You're under financial curse if you don't pay tithe". And the statement has refused to go down well with most Nigerians. As a matter of fact alot of Nigerians are actually angry about this statement saying it's an act of extortion.
Alot of well known people and celebrities actually took it up to really blast the statement, mainly Top Comedian Basket mouth personally took it upon himself to show that the statement is not right and he doesn't support it any way.
Musician Rude boy said he would like to know if Dangote and Bill Gates pay tithes too, in mockery of the statement. And so many Nigerians said this is extortion and stealing in broad daylight, in the name of God.
"You are under jara curse, if you no find me something this weekend. Bet and see," Reality star, actor and TV personality, Uti Nwachukwu wrote.
"E tire me. Same them that preach about grace (unlimited favour) yet still talking of how I must pay tithe to merit financial favour. I'm confused," comedian Acapella wrote.
What do you all actually think about this? Because to me the statement is really wrong I don't think it should be mandatory to pay tithe. Paying of tithe is something of the old testament and when Jesus Christ came in the new testament, He changed all of these things, so please I would really like you all Comments.
