Immediately the news was announced, many celebrities and personalities in the entertainment industry congratulated Ayra on her latest achievement and started following her on Instagram. On the 22nd of January 2020, Ayra‘s debut project, a five-track EP, a mid tempo song that focus more on break-up, the pain and the experiences from it.
The EP titled Ayra Starr is making waves presently and has been streamed by thousands of people on major music platforms. As if that hasn't caused enough buzz already, the official music video for one of the tracks “Away” got released on the same day. It was a back to back something, no doubt.
Oyinkansola Aderibigbe,born on the 14th of June in the year 2002 hails from Edo State. Though born in Edo State, she was raised in Lagos. She comes from a Christian home with a strong belief in God. She has only one sibling, a brother who is also a musical act. He is a songwriter and recording artist. At a young age, Oyinkansola would compose music lyrics as a child, a gifted ability she was able to nurture with the help of her supportive family.
Notable for her talents, she is known to be a Nigerian Afro-pop singer, songwriter, Fashion and Face model.
In August 2018, Ayra got signed to a modelling company called Quove Model management know for scouting and developing a new young model in Nigeria.
During her time with Quove Model Management , Ayra Starr was able to work with top brands like Concept Magazine, Mazelle Studio, Krisari Entertainment, Esperanza Woman’s Wear Brand, while also starring as a video vixen for the music video of Dear Future Wife by Eriife Music.
Later in the year 2018, Ayra lost her dad and the result of such huge losses due to her closeness with her dad, made he wrote and sang tribute songs to her late dad. She described him as her inspiration,the real OG and as a result of the shock, she learnt that there is no template to life.
With her musical influences from the likes of Beyonce, Sia, Rihanna and of course the Nigerian gospel sensation, Tope Alabi, her style of music has been compared to that of the fast rising Nigerian act, Tems.
Thanks to the unique blend her songs has managed to produce, she caught the attention of the Mavin boss, Don Jazzy after series of freestyles on Instagram. One of the noticeable one was that of the cover to 2face idibia‘s single “Ole”.
After she was unveiled to the world as labels latest signing and third female to be announced by the label after Tiwa Savage and Di'ja, Ayra became the lyrics to our songs and we can't get over her, no matter how hard we try.
