King (Dr.) Saheed Akorede Okunola simply known as Saheed Osupa is definitely one of the very successful Fuji musicians Nigeria has seen. And, give it to him, because his success did not come on a platter of gold. It took him a lot of hard work, resilience, and ruggedness to get to the high level he has attained today, as an artiste in Nigeria. But then, Fuji music is never a one man show. It is, rather, a band based genre of music that, it would take concerted effort of all the band members to achieve successful in it.

So, for Saheed Osupa to achieve his success story as a Fuji music star in the country, it actually took the support of certain key men who trudged through the journey to success with him, from ground zero. And, it would interest you to know that, three of the key men that once made Saheed Osupa's band stand out amongst to he rest, are no longer with him. One of the key men in question is Sunday Balogun, who is better known as Sunday Oluperi. Sunday Oluperi was the lead drummer, and Captain of Saheed Osupa's band during all the years they spent together. And, Sunday Oluperi being a talented drummer brought a good touch of professionalism in the aspect of different drumbeats he created for Saheed Osupa's music, to the band. One of the memorable drumbeats that Sunday Oluperi created for Saheed Osupa was the "Gbasss Gbosss" beat that accompanied Saheed Osupa's popular song which goes thus: "Ti daddy and mummy ba ma choose music, omo won aso pe Osupa ma mi e ra..." ( When Daddy and mummy are about to choose the music to buy from the shelf, their child would tell them to buy Saheed Osupa). Every Saheed Osupa's fan knows that song like an anthem. And, Sunday Oluperi created the drumbeat that made it hot. He also created many other popular drumbeats like that for Saheed Osupa.

The second key member that has left Saheed Osupa's band is Taofik Lawal who is better known as Kokokoro Taofiki. Kokoro Taofiki was Saheed Osupa's lead back-up singer for many years. And, during those years, Kokoro Taofiki created a unique identity for himself as the most popular back-up singer with any Fuji music star in Nigeria. The only back-up singer that seemed to be rivalrying Kokoro Taofiki then was the lead back-up singer with Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Odetola popularly known as Pasuma, who was known as Shina Alao. Shina Alao is now late. Meanwhile, Kokoro Taofiki stood out back then with creative slangs he was always infusing into Saheed Osupa's music while backing him up. Fans of Saheed Osupa would never forget Kokoro Taofiki for his immense contributions to the popularity of Saheed Osupa's music.

Sulaima Abiodun Lasisi, a saxophonist better known as Sule Sax in Saheed Osupa's band back then, is the third key member of the band that has left Saheed Osupa. Sule Sax was very creative with the tunes he was always churning out with his saxophone in the band. And, he became so key to Saheed Osupa's music that no foreing music tour would come for Saheed Osupa without Sunday Oluperi, Kokoro Taofiki, and of course, Sule Sax not being part of the trip. They were that key to Saheed Osupa's music.

However, Sule Sax had a kidney problem sometime ago that a fund raising had to be organised for him to be able to go and seek medical solution to it in India. And, by the time he came back from the surgery, he said he had become a saxophonist for Christ, and would only be playing in Churches. So, while Sule Sax left Saheed Osupa to be playing his saxophone to praise God across different Churches in Nigeria, Sunday Oluperi and Kokoro Taofiki on their own part, relocated to America in search of greener pastures, as soon as they left Saheed Osupa's band.

And, no doubt, the band and teeming fans of Saheed Osupa are still missing the three key men, even long after they have all been duly replaced with other men.
