There are some popular Nigerian musicians who are graduates from different universities around the world, and many people may not know this because of the type of music these celebrities produce.
We will be looking at 4 of those musicians, and the courses they studied in the university.
1. Naira Marley
Azeez Adeshina Fashola popular music star and songwriter who is known by the stage name Naira Marley. He is known to have a large fan base popularly known as "Marlians" due to his music which is mostly performed in English, Pidgin and Yoruba languages.
Many people do not know of his educational accomplishments due to his preferred style of music. Naira Marley moved to Peckham, South London, England at the age of 11, and graduated with a distinction in business from Peckham Academy.
Marley also studied business law at Crossways College, which is now known as Christ the King Sixth Form College.
2. Zlatan Ibile
Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael is another popular singer songwriter and dancer who goes by the stage name Zlatan Ibile. He started his music career at a young age, and also won the 2014 One Mic talent show which was held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Zlatan graduated with a national diploma in business administration from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. Many Nigerians were surprised after the musician shared photos of himself dressed in NYSC uniform.
3. Burna Boy
Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu is a professional music star who is known as Burna Boy in the music industry. He is one of the most successful singer, songwriter, rapper and dancer in the African music scene.
Burna Boy rose to prominence after the 2012 music release titled, "Like to Party". The popular musician attended Corona Secondary School which is located in Agbara and later relocated to London to study Media Technology at the University of Sussex, which was followed by Media Communications and Culture at Oxford Brookes University.
David Adedeji Adeleke is a musician who is popularly known as Davido in the music industry. Davido started his education at the British International School in Lagos but moved to Alabama, US, to further his education by studying business administration at Oakwood before dropping out to pursue a music career.
While pursuing a musical career, Davido enrolled at Babcock University and graduated with a degree in music.
