Reasons Why Chiwetalu Agu Was Not Treated as Biafra Agitator

It is no longers news that veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu has been released by Nigerian Army following his arrest for allegedly wearing outfit linked with proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Agu was arrested by Nigerian Army at Upper Iweka, Onitsha while sharing bread for large number of residents of the State. He was taken to 82 Division Enugu for interrogation.

The arrest of Agu sparked mixed reactions. Many blame him for wearing Biafra regalia due to high insecurity in the South East region.

No doubt, the South East region have been experiencing breakdown of law and order due as a result of coordinated attack carried out by IPOB and unknown gunmen.

Lives and properties worth millions of naira have been lost in the region.

The following are the things that saved Chiwetalu Agu from humiliation:

1. Agu was able to defend himself that the cloth he put on has no IPOB or ESN inscription. He stood his ground through a viral video uploaded by BBC News Yoruba that the logo on his outfit is a rising sun. The Military men granted him audience and he was able to defend himself without fear of intimidation.

2. Another thing that saved him from humiliation is his level of education. Through out the engagement in a viral video. He proved that he knew what to do and when to do it based on the level of his education. He was able to substantiate that he put on civil dress and not in anyway marketing any proscribed group.


3. He was not involved in any demostration. This is another point that save Chiwetalu Agu for m being treated as Biafra agitator. He was sharing bread when he was arrested. He was carrying out humanitarian agenda by sharing bread to people in Anambra State.
