5 Nigerian Gospel singers, who have passed away but are still relevant in the music industry

Nigeria as a country has produced several great and multitalented Gospel musician over the years. Most of them are not only melodious singer artists who produced party music but Godly inspire albums .

These musicians inspire and change lives through their God's given talent , though many of them are late , but their music and legacy will lives for ever in music industry .

In this article , we shall consider 5 gospel musicians who have passed away but their name and music remains evergreen .

1. Sonny Okosun

Sonny Okosun is a popular singer , guitarist , and composer from Edo state . He named his band ozzidi after a renowned ijaw river God , but to Okosun, the meaning was " there is a message " . He was one of the leading Nigerian musicians from the late 1970's to mid - 1980's. Okosun brand of African music ozzidi is a style of Afro beat , reggae and fonk . He has numerous fans in Nigeria and abroad.

Some of his popular albums are ; which way Nigeria , Fire in sweto , African soldier , Revolution , liberation and so on .

He died in of colon cancer at Howard University teaching hospital , Washington D. C , United States of America on 24th may 2008 .

2. Eric Arubuyi .

Eric Arubuyi is the son of a former vice - chancellor , according to premium times . He became widely popular after he emerged at the West African Idols award , which was held in 2007 .

In 2011 , thg gospel singer launched his debut album titled , "refine" in Lagos, the album contained some very popular tracks like one love , one voice , igwe , number one . He got married to a former model , chinoso in 2016 .

He died on the 11th of February 2017 at Delta State University teaching hospital after a brief illness .

3. Preye Omayuku

Preye Omayuku is a popular Nigerian Gospel singer. She was born in Zaria , Nigeria and comes from a family talented singers.

She has a unique styles of singing with a blend of soul , jazz and R & B.

Some of his popular albums are ; it is finished , Zion ,you are God , it is finished , grace and so on .

The port - Harcourt based singer died after a brief illness on the 5th of March 2020 .

4. Kefee Obareki Don Momoh .

Kefee Obareki Don Momoh was born on the 5th of February , 1980 into the family of Andrew Obareki in Sapele , Delta State .

Kafee began writing and composing songs as her passion for music kept growing .She made her way into the Nigerian gospel scene after the release of her album titled ' Trip ' in 2000 .

Most of her successful hit songs are "kokoroko and Branana " Kafee died of lung failure according to report on the 12th of June 2014 in Los Angeles hospital , California , United States of America .

5. Yemi Oluwadaisi a .k.a Ododo

Yemi Oluwadarasimi began her music career at a tender age and grew up in a reputable Christian family, with the support of her uncle late otunba kunle olasope ,who professionally discovered the talent in her ,she is a former staff ,oyo television , Oyo state ,now broadcasting corporation of Oyo state ( b.c.o.s ) .

She continues with her singing career , even at the Nigerian institute of journalism. The news of his death was reported in April 2020 by his friends .
