In his statement, Sugarboy stated that prior to now, he had no passion and desire for music but due to a halt in his academic pursuit, had no choice but to venture into it.
He explained that the halt in his academic pursuit occur as a result of continuous ASUU strike in Nigeria.
Sugarboy further explained that he dropped out of school for eight months during the 2015 customary ASUU strike and eventually had no choice but to embrace a music career rather than sit at home ideally.
According to reports from Guardian Newspaper, Sugarboy dropped out of school as a Chemical Engineering Student of the University of Lagos State in 2015.
He started his music career under the mentorship of a professional music rapper known as Phyno, who gave him a stage name known as Kyle B in 2019.
In 2021, Kyle B changed his name to Sugarboy Cheque which he currently uses professional as his stage name when doing a music performance.
