10 American Rappers with Nigerian Origin

Rappers like MI, Falz and Phyno have all taken rap music to a whole new level in Nigeria. But there are many other talented Nigerian rappers who have made waves outside Nigeria.

Let's check them out:

 

1. Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones

Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, better known by his stage name Nas, is an American rapper and composer best known for songs like "I Can" and "The World Is Yours." Olu Dara, his jazz musician father, is of Yoruba ancestry.

2. Wale:

Wale is an American rapper whose real name is Olubowale Victor Akintimehin. He was born to Nigerian parents in Washington, DC. He's had hits with songs like "On Chill" and "Bad."

3. Chamillionaire:

American rapper Hakeem Seriki aka Chamillionaire is known for songs like "Hip Hop Police" and "Goodmorning." His father is a Nigerian Muslim.

4. Jidenna:

Jidenna Theodire Mobisson, an American rapper, was born in 1985 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, to a Nigerian father and a white mother. Songs like "Bambi" and "Classic Man" have made him renowned.

5. Lil' O: Lil' O, born Ore Magnus Lawson in Lagos in 1977, is known for songs such as "I Wonder Why" and "It Can't Rain 4ever."

6. Kami de Chukwu: Kene Ekwunife, better known by his stage name Kami, is a Nigerian-American rapper who is best known for his songs "Red Rover" and "Blaqlight."

7. Cozz: Cody Osagie, also known as Cozz, is an American rapper with a Nigerian father who was born in Los Angeles, California. ‘Knock The Hustle' and ‘Lambo Truck' are two of his songs.

8. Tyler The Creator: Tyler Gregory Okonma was born in 1991 and is best known for his songs "New Magic Wand" and "Yonkers."


9. Emekwanem Ogugua Biosah

Emekwanem Ogugua Biosah Jr, better known by his stage name Maxo Kream, is a Nigerian-American rapper and songwriter. 'Meet Again' and 'Roaches' are two of his tunes.


10. Fat Tony

Fat Tony, a Nigerian-American rapper best known for smashing songs like "Swervin" and "Hood Party," was born Lawson Jude Ifeanyichukwu Obiawunaotu in March 1988.
