Despite being 52 years of age as of today, Bianca Ojukwu can still stand as a solid definition of a "Timeless Beauty". In the 80's, Ms. Bianca participated in 5 different beauty competitions; 3 of which she won and 1 of which was given a title in. Today, we will be going back to the years 1988 and 1989; the era in which Bianca Ojukwu was at peak of her beauty career.
Born on the 5th of August 1968, Ms. Bianca Ojukwu was the the wife to the late former President of the then Biafra Republic of 1967, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. She has however definitely made a name for herself by being a revered former beauty queen, Political figure, lawyer and businesswoman. Her beauty is such that cannot be denied. Among the likes of Agbani Darego, she's one of the few ladies that have earned victory for Nigerian at the international beauty stage and has often been referenced as a symbol of elegant beauty and class.
The 1980's could be said to be her "Breakthrough" decade as she won titles in 3 international beauty pageants and was the winner in one National pageant; all between the space of just 2 years.
In 1988, Bianca Won the biggest beauty pageant in Nigeria, the MBGN (Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria) . This is definitely the highest national honour of beauty any aspiring Nigerian beauty queen would want to have.
However, that was not the end but only a path to an ocean of more wins. In the same year (1988) she became Nigeria's representative of what was then the biggest African continental pageant, Miss Africa. Bianca once again took home the crown. It was certainly was a proud moment for her family and the country. It was also yet another achievement to her name as her performance in the contest was second to none.
Nonetheless, Bianca apparently had more international dreams beyond the shores of Africa. At that time being the Soviet era, thr young Miss Bianca decided to be Nigeria's representative at a beauty contest in Russia, known as the Miss Charm (Miss Ocharovaniye in Russian) which took place right after the Miss USSR pageant in 1988. In this pageant which was held in Moscow, she won the MISS DRUZHBA title, one of the honours given in the pageant.
In 1989, Ms. Bianca who was at the peak of her career continued her beauty conquest by yet again representing Nigeria at the Miss Intercontinental beauty pageant.
She wasn't just a regular winner that year, she broke the record for being the first African native to win the contest. Yet another big beauty competition in which she took a crown home.
However, after her victory, controversies started to build up when rumors broke out that she was in a relationship with late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. The pressure from the controversies gave her no other option than to resign and focus on finishing her law degree program. By 1994, she would get her law degree and thereafter have a lavish wedding ceremony with the love of her life, late Chukuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
