Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as "Wizkid", is an Afro-Pop star who has risen to become one of the biggest artistes in the music industry.
He went to Ijebu Ode Grammar School and then Lagos State University where he later dropped out.
Wizkid wasn't always known as Wizkid as he used to be called 'Lil Prinz', when he just started singing but changed the name in 2006, due to some personal reasons which he refused to disclose to the media.
His journey to music industry started at the age of 11 years, when he was part of a group called "Glorious Five. By the time he was 15, Wizkid had already met 'OJB Jezreel', who he followed closely and watched other big stars like: 2Face Idibia, Sound Sultan and Naeto.C.
His very first single is tittled 'Mami Water'. He later signed to Banky W's NEW record label in 2009 which was the beginning of his rise. He dropped his first studio album ' Super Star' in 2009, and released the hit song 'Holla At Your Boy' in 2010. In 2014, he dropped another album 'Ayo ', which had a host of music stars on his feature list.
Wizkid has worked with not just big music stars in the country but outside the shores of Nigeria, include: Drake, Chris Brown etc.
He has some albums to his credit: Caro (2014), Ayo (2014), Manya (2017), Fake Love (2018).
He is a father to three sons. He welcomed his first son "Boluwatife", in 2011 at the age of 21 years wit his then-girlfriend turned baby mama, Shola Ogudugu. In 2016, Wizkid welcomed his second son "Ayodeji" with his second baby mama, Binta Diallo.
When it comes to endorsement deals, Wizkid is the cynosure of all eyes especially for notable brands. On 23rd of Dec 2013, he signed an endorsement with Guinness for the 'Guinesss World Of More' concert held at Eko Hotel Lagos State, Nigeria. He had an endorsement deal with Pepsi which lasted for two years. Nigeria's giant telecommunication company (Glo), which made him one of their top ambassadors. The deal didn't only made him rich but also helped him in his career as he travelled to some parts of the world as Glo's ambassador.
Aside Wizkid's endorsement deals, he has signed lucrative deals involving International Celebrities like: Sean Diddy Combs, a top brand ambassador of CIROC. In 2018, he also signed lucrative deal with Nike and Dolce Gabbana, two giants in the world's fashion industry.
Wizkid posed in a complete tracksuit designed by Nike's, which serves as the Nigerian Super Eagle's official jersey that was used the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
He is the owner of a N13 million Naira mansion located in Lagos State Nigeria, and another huge mansion which is located in Los Angeles.
In March 14, 2021, Wizkid won his first Grammy Award for the Best Music Video of 'Brown Skin Girl' with Beyonce and Blue Ivy Cartel. He is the first Nigerian Artist to win a Grammy Award.
Wizkid has really represented Nigeria and He is regarded as one of the most successful youngest musical star in the country.
