The big brother Naija reality show finally came to an end on Sunday the 3rd of October, 2021. The show which kicked off on the 24th and 25th of July saw 22 housemates walk through the door of big brother but 6 made it to the final day.
White Money went home with the 90 million grand prize ahead of Liquorose, Pere, Cross, Angel and Emmanuel who came 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th respectively. The show recorded a billion votes and the organizers revealed they spent about 4.2 billion naira throughout the duration of the show.
Monday was set as the day for the presentation of prizes to the ex-housemates. The housemates came in style to receive their gifts.
Some fans have compared the big brother prize presentation to that of best graduating students and have condemned how hardworks are being rewarded in our society.
UNIOSUN best graduating student was given a mug as a gift in 2016.
Somadina Nwabuwa, best graduating student of Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University got a tuber of yam and live chicken as a gift for his effort.
UNIPORT best graduating student received N250 cash price 2-years after graduating.
The critic went further to say, "But, N90,000,000 is about to be awarded to the winner of a show that has no moral value to Nigeria as a country and to us as a people. And that's why I am asking this question, do Nigeria/Nigerians value education or are we just deceiving ourselves?".
In my opinion, I feel what should be your drive or motivation shouldn't be what you stand to gain for being the best. Where you are heading to, your aspirations and desire should be your motivation not a prize or the likes.
