Wizkid VS Davido VS Burna Boy: Who Has the Most Awards? See Details

Music is one of the biggest source of entertainment in the world. It requires talent, hard work and good marketing for one to become successful as a musician. Part of music is the comparison of great singers by their respective fans. This is not different in Nigeria where debates about Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy seems to be getting more serious as the day rolls by. This article will give details of the success of each of the music superstars.

Wizkid whose original name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun is a popular Nigerian music artiste. He is widely regarded as the greatest singer in Nigeria, and Africa at large. Wizkid also known as Starboy is a living legend who has made an indelible mark in integration of Afrobeats in world music. The singer started off his career at the age of 11 when a music group (Glorious Five) he was part of dropped an album.

The Ogun State born has gone ahead to become a superstar. Prior to his superstardom was the release of "Holla at Your Boy" the lead single from his first studio album "Superstar" (2011). The album is arguably the greatest album made by a Nigerian. And his greatest hit is "Ojuelegba" which quickly became an anthem in Nigeria upon the release of its video on January 5, 2015.

Now, let's look into the awards gallery of Starboy.

Davido just like Wizkid has a very big and loyal fan base. He made his music debut as a member of a group identified as KB International. The 27-year old rose to prominence after he dropped his second single "Dami Duro" from his debut studio album "Omo Baba Olowo".

The most followed African musician on social media has proved he is one of the greatest ever. The name Davido is almost synonyms to hits-making. 'Fall' released by Davido on 2nd June 2020 is regarded as the greatest Afrobeat song ever. The song broke the record in 2017 as the longest-charting Nigerian pop song in Billboard history.

Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu is a Nigerian musician popularly known by his stage name, Burna Boy. He is one singer who can stand alongside Wizkid and Davido as the hottest Nigerian singers of recent. The Rivers State born attained prominence after the release of "Like to Party" a lead single from his debut album "L.I.F.E" (2012).

The 29-year old got the peak of his career after the release of his biggest hit yet "Ye" from his third studio album "Outside" on January 2018. The song became an anthem in Nigeria and beyond throughout the year. The highlight of the year was when Burna Boy performed before a sold-out crowd at London's O2 Academy Brixton. The crowd overwhelmed the singer that he could only smile on while they sang the biggest song of the year "Ye". Instead of Burna singing for the crowd, the reverse was the case.

The self-acclaimed African Giant has a good number of awards to his name; about 23 major awards. Among these numerous awards are:

BET Awards (2),

The Headies (3),

Nigeria Entertainment Awards (2)

MTV Europe Music Awards (1)

African Muzik Magazine Awards (2)

Africa Music Awards (2)

That's it guys. But I think awards do not determine how much legendary a musician is. Or what do you think?
