BBNaija 2021: Past winners of Big Brother Naija and where they are now

The reality TV series is an idea of Big Brother television franchise, in which 12 to 30 contestants, live in an isolated house and compete for a large cash prize and other material gifts.

Chukwuebuka Obi-Uchendu, a Nigerian lawyer and media personality from Anambra State has been the host of the reality TV show for the past four seasons. He is also the host of ''Rubbin Minds'' talk show on Channels TV.

He is an ex-Bbnaija housemate. Though he wasn't the winner during his time, but he has done very well for himself since leaving the House.

Let us go down memory lane, and take a look at the previous winners from the last five seasons, and see what have become of them after winning the competiton.

katung Aduwak (season 1)

The first-ever season of Big Brother Naija was held from 5 March to 4 June 2006. Then, it was called Big Brother Nigeria. The show was hosted by Michelle Dede and Olisa Adibua.

Katung Aduwak emerged as the winner. He took home the $100,000 prize money after emerging as winner. Afterwards, he proceeded to the Digital Film Academy in New York where he obtained a directorial degree. He is now a filmmaker, he produced and directed the movies “Unwanted Guest” and “Heaven’s Hell.”

He also directed a number of music videos and also starred in EbonyLife TV’s “Desperate Housewives.”

Efe EJeba (season 2)

After a decade, the reality TV show returned, and was renamed Big Brother Naija. It was themed “See Gobe” and premiered in January 2017, with 22 contestants vying for the grand prize of N25 million.

Efe was crowned winner of Bbnaija season 2, he received the grand prize of N25 million naira and other prizes.

Following his emergence as winner of the show, the rapper released an EP called “Lagos EP.” He also collaborated with superstar rapper Olamide on the song “Warri''.

He has released other songs since then, like “Based on logistics” and “I love you.” However, nothing tangible has been heard from Efe in recent times.

miracle igbokwe (season 3)

The third season was premiered on 28 January, 2018, and was themed “Double Wahala”. Ebuka returned as host of the reality TV show once again.

20 housemates competed for the cash prize of N25 million, Miracle Igbokwe from Imo state, went home with the grand prize as the winner and was presented with a brand new Hyundai Tucson SUV, a N25 million cheque, home appliances worth N3 millon and a trip to an exotic location for two.

while inside the House, Miracle also won an additional N2.2 million cash prize from Payporte Arena Games and Pepsi Refresh Your Mix competition.

After winning the show, he left for South Africa to an Aviation school to pursue his dreams. In 2019, Miracle obtained his certification as an “Instrument Rated” pilot.

Mercy Eke (season 4)

The fourth season was premiered on 30 June 2019, and was themed “Pepper Dem.” Unlike previous seasons, the show was held in Nigera.

Mercy Eke emerged the winner of the show, and became the first female to win the reality TV show. She went home with a total of N30 million cash, a N25 million Innoson Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), a trip to Dubai and other prizes.

On March 14, 2020, She received the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award for Best Dressed Female. She also bought a house in Lekki, Lagos.She has several businesses to her name, including a real estate company. She also launched her own reality show called “Mercy & Ike.”

Laycon (season 5)

Bbnaija season 5 had alot of interesting contestants. Laycon defeated four other housemates who made it to the final day of the show, and went home with the grand price of N85 million.

The grand prize included: N30 million cash, a two-bedroom apartment courtesy of Revolution Plus, filled with home appliances from Scanfrost, plus an extra N6 million which he won during his stay in the House.

The 26-year-old fast rising rapper, Olamilekan 'Laycon' Agbeleshe is doing very well for himself in the music industry. He has collaborated with some top music icons in the Nigerian music industry and he is set to release his music album soon.

The 2021 edition of the reality show, Bbnaija season 6 was premiered on 24 july, themed ''shine ya eyes''. It will be aired for the next ten weeks.
