Today, the lifestyle of many celebrities today are mostly available on social media. Their lives are not private in any way and this is why many of them are always trending daily. In the past few weeks, Tonto Dikeh, Jane Mena and so many celebrities have been dragged online for something that has happened in the past.
A few days ago, the popular music artiste and a famous songwriter, Tiwa Savage was dragged on Facebook and Instagram for a leaked video. Although, Tiwa Savage may not have known about the recording the fact she is a celebrity makes the matter worse. To this end, I have few words that I would love to share
1. To avoid extortion and blackmailing.
There are a lot of fans and followers out there that are keeping a close watch on many celebrities, they are seriously looking for means to get their mistakes and use them against them. There is an adage that says "whatever you keep secret has value." Fans and followers believe that every celebrity will want to keep a good name and a fine record and as such, they (Corrupt followers) will want to leverage and capitalize on the mistakes of a celebrity to blackmail or extort him/her.
2. Keeping a private Life is another way to show professionalism and to earn respect.
Living a life outside social media is also a way to show professionalism. The use of social media today has been abuse by many youth and as such, the platform now serves as a gossip or gist centre.
It is my candid advice that the upcoming celebrities will learn the mistake of the elders to live their own life. Some Nigerian artist who are having a good home today are those that do not base their whole life on media. Too much of everything can be harmful at times.
