3 famous Nigerian celebrities who have succeeded despite being physically impaired

Success is even more celebrated when it comes from special people who have been tagged by society as being impaired but have been able to overcome the challenges that come with their perceived impairments to achieve enviable feats.

Below is a quick rundown of three famous Nigerians who despite their impairments have been able to accomplish greatness.

1) Cobhams Asuquo

Cobhams is one of the best music producers in Nigeria. He is a musician and songwriter who branched into music from his professional training as a lawyer.

Although visually impaired, the talented music producer has been able to win multiple awards in his career and is known for producing some of Nigeria’s finest artistes like internationally acclaimed Asa, among others. Cobhams has won multiple local and international awards for his creative and entrepreneurial contributions to the Nigerian music industry. He was featured on CNN’s African Voices for his contribution and impact on the African music industry. He was one of the judges at the recently concluded 2nd edition of the 'Trophy Extra Special Band' show alongside 2Baba and Timi Dakolo.

2) Tony Tetuila

Born into a poor polygamous family with an enormous lump on his chest, a bad health condition, and having to cope as a crippled child, Anthony Olanrewaju Awotoye, popularly known as Tony Tetuila, is proof that a man’s beginning does not necessarily determine his future.

This Oro, Kwara State-born recording artiste, and songwriter is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s living Hip-Hop legends and in his own words, owes his success and life to God and his mother’s love, bravery, selflessness, and prayers. He started walking but his legs are not perfectly balanced. His life is a prove that physical impairment never limits success.

3) Yinka Ayefele

23 years after a major accident that affected his two legs, gospel artist Yinka Ayefele continues to thank God for saving his life. He was involved in a fatal accident on the 12th of December 1997 and since then the Gospel music artiste has been in a wheelchair and it never stopped him from attaining greater heights in his career. Did I also mention that he is the founder of Fresh FM, one of the leading Radio Stations in Ibadan, Oyo State? Of course, he is!
