Even though the music industry is largely populated by men, globally, the biggest music brands have a lot of times been women.
Female singers like Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Beyoncé, Adele and a goat of others have gone on to become global and household brands based off of their brilliance and talents.
In Nigeria, there are female acts doing wonders and pushing as many numbers as their male counterparts are doing. Away from the dominance of Wizkid, Davido and more recently, Burna Boy, more than a handful of female singers have successfully held their own in a cutthroat industry.
These 5 women (in no particular order) deserve their accolades without a shred of doubt.

A creatives arts graduate from the University of Lagos, Yemi Alade has cemented her place as one of Africa’s biggest music brand. She has sold out shows mostly outside the shores of Nigeria to show how versatile and accepted she is across Africa.
Simi
Simi is just absolutely everyone’s sweetheart. She sings with the voice of a pretty harmless angel and is so adept at production too. Simi is a seasoned songwriter who is now married to heartthrob, Adekunle Gold.
