The annual gospel music concert of Pastor Paul Adefarasin's church, House On The Rock, held yesterday, Friday, December 11, 2020, has come and gone. However, the year 2020 edition of the event tagged, "The Experience 15 - Global Edition" has got the attention of many people in Nigeria who have one or two things to point out concerning the virtual worship that was live streamed across the world.
As it is the tradition of the annual music concert where popular gospel artistes are invited to minister along with other pastors; this year's edition featured the popular American gospel singer and Pastor, Travis Greene, Tope Alabi, Sinach among other gospel artistes. The appearance of Travis Greene who wore tinted dreadlocks while ministering at the church event is, however, now the subject of debate amongst Nigerians on social media.
Greene is a gospel singer and lead Pastor at Forward City Church in Columbia, US. He has always fancied his hair dreaded and tinted with gold color, his neck and wrists adorned with jewelries.
Meanwhile, this has never stopped him from going about spreading the gospel of Christ around the world, down to Nigeria. This, the popular Twitter commenter, @DrOlufunmilayi tried to point out to the Nigerian church goers who discriminate against other church members because of their mode of dressing.
"Travis Greene has dreads.
Travis Greene has coloured hair.
Travis Greene is wearing chain.
He’s performing at The Experience now and we all see him beyond all of that.
I hope we extend this love and understanding to Nigerians in our churches and society who dress like this."
To this post, DrOlufunmilayo got many responses, including one from the popular Nollywood actress, Kante Henshaw, who believes Greene's dressing was simply overlooked because he is not Nigerian.
