Swedish rapper - Einar was on thursday shot dead in the capital,Stockholm.
This development has increased tension over gang related violence that has affected the country in recent years.
Einar 19, and whose real name is Nils Gronberg was killed in the upmarket surburb of Hammerby Sjostad and so far no arrest have been made.
Gronberg made his music debut at the age of 16 and has released four albums,having tens of millions of streams on music platforms and has won Swedish Grammys and other awards.
The Prime minister of Sweden,Stefan Lofven told a local news agency,TT ;
"A young life has been extinguished and l understand that he meant a lot to many young people. It is tragic"
The late rapper was kidnapped last year and beaten up by rival rappers with links to a Stockholm gang.
Several people including one of sweden's successful rapper,Yasin Byn,were given prison time for their roles in the kidnapping.
Sweden has suffered from gang violence for years,going from having one of the lowest rate of gun crimes in Europe to having one of the highest over the past two decades.
