A news article went viral in 2016 of the rescue of a young starving boy who was abandoned by his parents on the basis that he was a witch.
The pictures at the time showed the foreign aid worker who apparently rescued him from the streets squatting while trying to give the palpably malnourished kid some water to drink.
The news made the rounds on social media causing a lot of angry reactions with most people wondering how any parent could do something like that to their child.
Now to the point of this article, the name of the aid worker who rescued the boy from the streets is Anja Ringgren Lovén from Frederikshavn, Denmark and she is the founder of a charity organization which has served to protect and rescue abandoned children accused of being witches in some parts of Nigeria.
Her Instagram page @landofhope with over 200 thousand followers is filled with pictures and stories of abandoned children whom she has been able to save with the help of her organization.
Anja Ringgren Loven has been a beacon of light and hope for these abandoned children, most of whom would have been as good as dead if not for her selfless intervention.
A true modern day "mother Theresa" worthy of emulation.
