After a Christian TV station of the founder of Believers loveword aka Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, was fined for the second time in the UK by Ofcom for airing a misinformation about covid-19, aide to president Buhari on social media, Lauretta Onochie has accused Pastor Chris of committing similar offence in Nigeria without facing the consequences.
“He openly did the same in Nigeria with no consequences. Great opportunity to collect more tithes and offerings. God save his people from those who have no respect for Nigerians and their unsuspecting followers and show it by lying to them..” She wrote in response to the second fine on her Facebook page.
Loveword TV, the station which aired Christ Embassy’s programmes was fined £125,000 (N65.8million) few days ago by Ofcom, a UK broadcast regulator, for airing a misinformation about covid-19 during a 29-hour programme on the 1st of December, 2020, tagged Global Day of Prayer.
Recall that the TV station was first fined some time in May, 2020 for a similar offence after Pastor Chris raised unsubstantiated conspiracy theories about covid-19.
