Nneka 'The Pretty Serpent', a 1992 Nollywood classic and fan favourite is getting remade! Here’s everything you need to know. Firstly, The movie is set for release in Nigerian Cinemas on December 18th, 2020. In this version, Idia Aisien is in the lead role alongside Ndidi Obi, Kenneth Okolie, Beverly Osu, Bovi, Beverly Naya, Waje, Chioma Akpotha, Larry Gaaga, Shaffy Bello, Bimbo Ademoye, Sani Muazu, Judith Audu, Ray Emodi, Zack Orji, Femi Branch, Keppy Ekpenyong, and others. The movie is directed by Tosin Igho, produced by Chris Odeh and executive produced by Play Network Africa.
The promotional footage released so far has kept expectations high. In the first look at the dramatic teaser, a 41-second footage, which opens ominously, teases a new chapter with connections to the original. We get a glimpse of the new actors and conflicts alongside the veteran actress Obi who is both enthralling and delicious on screen. We are very excited to see this movie but we have some questions. Chiefly, how much of the original plot was kept? Is this the same Nneka or a new one? What is the role of Ndidi Obi’s in this remake? The original story focused on a mystical character who embarks on a mission to destroy unfaithful marriages. Will this story follow the same narrative or focus more on a revenge plot with a touch of female empowerment like the teaser suggests?
