Over the years, the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood, has grown significantly. But there was a time when Nigerians had a good laugh from some of Nollywood movies due to their titles and/or their storyline.
Allow me take you down memory lane:
1. Spider Girl
Our darling Regina Daniels starred in this movie. The title and theme was obviously a replica of Avengers' Spider Man.
2. The Bat-Man
At least, the costume from Spider Girl was sewn. We can manage that. But the wings in this movie? So hilarious. This movie will make you laugh out your worries, trust me.
3. Beyonce & Rihanna
This was the good old days when Nadia Buhari was still gracing our screens. I bet the real Beyonce and the real Rihanna would cringe when they see this movie.
4. Drake vs Meek Mill
5. Ben 10
6. 2Pac
7. Dorobucci Love
8. Zee-World Madness
I watched snippets of this movie, and I bowed my head in shame. I could not believe Nollywood came up with something like that. Not only was it a lousy attempt to imitate Bollywood, it failed terribly, as the whole thing came out quite terrible.
9. King Davido
10. Tears for Breast Milk
I mean, what sort of title is this? Even children in the lower primary would laugh their hearts out at this sort of title.
Well, thank heavens for growth. Nollywood movies are no longer where they used to be.
