As the one of the most interesting part of Nollywood Movie Industry, Yoruba Nollywood has most of its actors rooted out in Western part of the country. They can come from Osun, Oyo, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo and Ekiti.
While Yoruba dominated the industry, we can still proud of some people making it big in the industry and they are not Yoruba. They speak Yoruba fluently and even act traditional roles better than the real indigenes.
I have taken my time to select ten out of them ( there are still more people) in which we shall be taking a look at today.
1) Toyin Abraham
She was known as Toyin Aimaku before, she is an award-winning actress and a star in the industry.
Toyin started writing in the year 2003 when she encountered Bukky Wright when she visited Ibadan. She has written and produced a number of movies but she is best known for her popular movie titled"Alakada".
Toyin was born in Edo State but used most of her life in Ibadan in Oyo State.
Hails from Delta State in Nigeria but was born and raised in Lagos. He used to be a modelling character before venturing into acting.
Richardo Agbo can cope in Yoruba and English movies.
3) Mercy Aigbe
She is one of the most important actress in Yoruba Nollywood industry. She is beautiful and also talented.
Mercy Aigbe joined the movie Industry in the year 2006 and she produced popular movie like " Osas Omo Benin"
She hails from Edo State in Nigeria.
4) Kelvin Ikeduba
Looking for an actor that can play the role of an assassin and a thief at the same time, call on Kelvin. He is not just an actor but a television personality who is also a model.
Kelvin is from Delta State in Nigeria.
5) Faithia Williams
Talking about Yoruba Nollywood women, the list will never be completed without mentioning Faithia despite not being an indigene. She is beautiful and also Talented.
She hails from Edo and formerly married to Mr Saidi Balogun. She has featured in more than a hundred movies.
6) Regina Chukwu
A television superstar before diving into the movie Industry. She has featured in some shows like Family Ties’ and ‘ Super Story’.
She is a movie producer from Igbo tribe in the Eastern part of the country and also a fashion star.
7) Rachel Oniga
After her divorce, Rachel Oniga began her acting career in the year 1993. She hails from Delta in southern Nigeria from Eku community.
She is well known for her debut Yoruba movie ‘Owo Blow’. Over the years, she has featured in notable Nigerian films such as ‘Sango’.
She speaks Yoruba fluently just like indigenes.
8) Mercy Ebosele
Originally, Mercy is from Edo State part of Nigeria but was born and raised in Oyo State Nigeria.
The beautiful actress ventured into movie production in 2007 as she wasn’t getting movie roles. One of the movies she has produced was Febisola.
9) Amarachi Igwe
A fast rising Nollywood star who has been gaining attentions in the movie Industry. She is an easterner.
10) Rose Odika
She was born to a Delta father and an Edo mother but was born in Ibadan in Oyo State Nigeria.
Rose has been acting since her secondary school days till now.
