"It's Hard To Accept That My Son Is Going To Secondary School" - Singer Timi Dakolo Says

Being a parent has its fair share of challenges. One of them is when the kids are grown and you have to let go of them, the difficulty in accepting that you can no longer monitoring their every move.

Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo took to his Instagram page and expressed his worry about sending off his son to secondary school.

The 11-year-old boy, Alexander Dakolo recently completed his primary education and is about to advance to the next stage.

Timi said that it's hard to imagine Alex doing things unsupervised and making choices by himself, without him being there to guide him.

This includes the kind of friends he would make and the choice of girl he might like as "a big boy".

The 'Iyawo mi' singer also shared a video where he was heard interviewing his son as he drank a bowl of custard.

He asked him what he thinks his weekly allowance should be.

Alex replied, "five thousand naira."

When asked how he intended to spend the money he said "Like a child would."

Timi quickly reminded him of his age and that he's not a child anymore.

"I'll use the money to buy the latest and interesting books, I'll use it to buy food like bread and custard."

Timi asked if he wouldn't save some part of the money, Alex smartly retracted his previous statement and said he would spend only a quarter of the money and save the rest.

Timi also mentioned that he wasn't overreacting and would be fine, regardless of this trying phase of parenting.

We wish him and Alex good luck.
